Following the recent Elections to the Parliament the GLMS interviewed incoming Minister for Culture, Heritage, Sport & Leisure, the Hon. Edwin J. Reyes. What do you envisage for the next four years in terms of facilities for musicians and events for music fans? I hope to keep close contact with all those working in the music world in Gibraltar. It is my intention to listen to their ideas in respect of Live Music Events and, thus, keep up the good work started by Minister Vinet. I have already had initial ideas from some of those whom I have met casually and I hope to secure funding to bring some of these to fruition. Just before the elections there was a mention of plans for a dedicated facility for music events, an 'Arena', with the aim of attracting international artists to play in Gibraltar as part of their tours, as was the case with Marillion. Could you offer any updates on this project in particular? As part of Government’s pledge to provide a Theatre with modern facilities, we hope to be able to identify a suitable place where an “Arena” can be set up permanently precisely to cater for international artists. |

The Bootlegs were the world’s first tribute band and since their formation some 26 years ago there have been many more imitators of varying degrees of quality. However none get anywhere near as close as the Bootlegs. And last week at the San Roque Club a sell out audience of 3200 people found out why. I saw many familiar faces from Gibraltar there-not surprising really as Lennon married Yoko Ono here on the 20th March 1969, thus ensuring an ongoing interest in the peace campaigning Beatle. |
